With the end of the year approaching quickly, it’s time for me to get out of hibernation and catch up on some projects from this summer! In particular I wanted to talk about this dress which was hands down my favorite from 2017 🙂
Aaah Keflavik… The pretty name of this sweater unfortunately doesn’t come from the pattern or from the yarn, neither of which are Icelandic, but from where it’s been knitted. This is the project that was with me that time I ended up stranded in Keflavik aiport, trying to fly home from France, and I had to wait five long hours while the entire airport got evacuated and everybody had to go through security again. All of this because a plane landed at the wrong terminal… Typically the type of situations where I’m happy to have a knitting project with me!
The new Deer&Doe collection is out! It contains three patterns: the Givre dress/tee/tank top, the Azara midi skirt, and the Bleuet dress which is back in a brand new edition. After sewing a million muslins and prototypes all summer, I actually don’t have many personal versions of these patterns to show you here, but I still wanted to post about my favorite Givre dress!
I finally sewed my first Named pattern! I’ve been admiring the aesthetic and apparent quality of this Finnish brand’s patterns for years, but I’ve always had trouble picturing myself in their garments – too edgy for me. But then the Playground collection was released and I instantly fell in love with the Reeta shirtdress and the Helga playsuit. I managed to talk myself out of the playsuit, since I couldn’t figure out where to wear it, but the dress went straight to my pattern library.
