The wait is over, here are finally some pictures of my version of the Coquelicot dress, one of the two new patterns from the latest Deer&Doe release! Coquelicot is a sleeveless, A-line dress with a neckline that is squared in the front and rounded in the back, adorned with a large ruffle that covers the shoulders. I’m not usually a fan of all that frilly stuff but this dress is definitely an exception. This dress was very pleasant to sew after several more complicated and tedious projects (hello Orchidée!) since the pattern is quite quick and easy. The only finicky…

When Named announced their second book, “Building the Pattern”, I was immediately charmed. I tend to collect beautiful pattern books, and I got to say that the imagery of this Scandinavian brand is stunning. I had already bought their previous book, “Breaking the Pattern”, but those patterns were a bit too out there for me and I have to admit that I haven’t sewn any of them yet. This second opus is focused on wardrobe creation and it contains much more wearable patterns. I pre-ordered the book on Amazon US as soon as the first pictures were unveiled, and I…

I’ve heard that the new Deer&Doe collection is coming out very soon… and I still haven’t finished showing you what I made from the patterns from the previous one! In addition to my two Neige sweatshirts I’ve also made a pair of Acajou pants, which will be the subject of today’s blog post. I was telling you while sharing my Persephone pants that I was always late sewing the latest trendy patterns, and here I am with a new project: the Kielo dress, favorite pattern of the sewing blogosphere since 2014! I got to say that I wasn’t in love with this pattern when it first came out: the shape of the skirt that tapers at the bottom was far from my fit-and-flare comfort zone. It seems that my tastes have changed, because since I sewed it, of all my dresses this is the one in which I find myself the most beautiful!…

Deer&Doe’s fall-winter 2020 collection came out a few weeks ago, and as usual I’m showing you what I made for myself from the patterns. To be honest with you, I haven’t yet finished my version of the Acajou pants (I made a ton of muslins but none of them are wearable unfortunately), but on the other hand I have two Neige sweatshirts to present to you today, version A and version B! My first sweatshirt is made after version A of the pattern, with the regular length and the wide funnel collar. This collar is really my favorite thing about…
