For New Year, I took a week off and went on vacation to the beach. In December it’s definitely cheaper than going skiing, but when it’s below freezing there’s no way to go for a swim. So since I had time to spare I took advantage of the occasion to take pictures of my new hat!

Boston is covered in snow, the holidays are gone, and spring won’t be here before a few months. This is the season each year when I start hibernating, which for me means hot chocolate, knitting, and binge watching TV shows. And since I’m getting back in the swing of things, I dug out my UFOs, and I finally finished this Chuck sweater that had been waiting for quite a while.
Aaah Keflavik… The pretty name of this sweater unfortunately doesn’t come from the pattern or from the yarn, neither of which are Icelandic, but from where it’s been knitted. This is the project that was with me that time I ended up stranded in Keflavik aiport, trying to fly home from France, and I had to wait five long hours while the entire airport got evacuated and everybody had to go through security again. All of this because a plane landed at the wrong terminal… Typically the type of situations where I’m happy to have a knitting project with me!
I’m going through a style crisis right now. I don’t know if it’s because I started working from home, if I spend too much time with Eléonore Klein or if I’m just finally catching up with trends, but I’m starting to leave my favorite retro silhouette behind for more comfortable outfits. Since I’ve made my Safran jeans (super comfy with its 30% stretch) I’ve been wearing them at least three days a week, with a flannel shirt or a big cosy sweater. Sewing-wise, I’m dreaming of Grainline Studio patterns, which I used to disregard as too boxy for me. And I picked up knitting again!
